Frequently Asked Questions
What is The Nailer®?
The Nailer® is the only patented drywall backer that securely fastens to both drywall and framing. It can easily be installed using a drywall screw or Tico-nailer for the steel version of The Nailer®. Or, it can be installed using 5/8″ staples for the plastic version of The Nailer®. The Nailer® is compatible with both wood and metal framing.
How do you use The Nailer®?
- Install The Nailer® 16″ to 24″ on-center.
- With an 8′ ceiling, measure down 48-5/8″ to the seam where the sheets meet.
- Place two Nailers® above the seam and two below on the top plate, above every stud.
- For truss uplift, place The Nailer® on the top plate next to the bottom cord of the truss.
- Fasten to The Nailer®, then to the bottom cord 18″ to 24″ out in the field of the ceiling. As the truss lifts, the board will flex and your corner will stay put.
Can I use The Nailer® on metal studs?
Yes, it’s designed for compatibility with both wood and metal framing systems. Use your standard component screw to attach The Nailer® to the steel framing.
How does The Nailer® improve insulation placement?
The Nailer® replaces the bulky wood that is usually stuffed with compressed fiberglass. If you foam your walls, you’re locked out of the corners that were stuffed before your siding was installed. Bad insulation results in freezing, cracking, and callbacks.
Does The Nailer® comply with building codes and regulations?
- Yes, The Nailer® is code compliant:
